The Lancashire Sportshall League operates during the winter months. Sportshall athletics is a great introduction to athletics for young people providing an exciting afternoon of non stop action, noise and fun. It uses safe and state of the art equipment and provides a good introduction and base for track and field athletics during the winter months.
The League is for Clubs and Schools for the Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15 age groups.
The League operates as a team competition but with individual Athlete of the Match Awards.
The League links into the national sportshall framework and is used to select the Lancashire Team for the Regional and National sportshall Competitions.

What a Red Rose Show this was. 36 of Lancashire’s best Sportshall Athletes turned out, to one of the most competitive regional finals in the UK, against Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Cumbria and Merseyside with the winners going through to the National UK Final at Birmingham.
This was an amazing day which brought the best, out, of all the athletes competing and at such a very high standard. They were all winners on the day and where superb role models for the sport.
The Under 13 Girls came 2nd overall, 25 points behind the winners Cheshire. The Under 13 Boys came 3rd overall, 45 points behind the winners Cheshire. The Under 15 Girls and Under 15 Boys came 1st and claim their place in the National UK Final.
The Lancashire Teams;
U13 Girls; Katy Alderson, Jessica McDermott, Ashley Smith (Preston Harriers), Lucy Chadwick (Pendle AC), Beth Miller, Hannah Storey (Horwich RMI), Gabriella Charnley, Lauren Westwell (Ribble Valley), Taegen O’Hara, Rebecca Todd, Emily Dickson, Chloe Needham (BWAFAC).
U13 Boys; Joe O’Donnell, Jacob Weir, Ryan Cooper (Preston Harriers), Joseph Pearse (Blackburn Harriers), Mathew Gibson, Mathew Ault, Sam Mercer, George Burton (Horwich RMI), Christopher Pate, Mathew Walker, David Jones, Finn Walker(BWAFAC).
U15 Girls; Hannah & Amy Lupton, Sophie Ealand, Alix Morley (Preston Harriers), Rachel Pearson (Horwich RMI), Tess Parkinson (Ribble Valley).
U15 Boys; Anthony Brooke (Preston Harriers), James Davies, Jack Scarr (BWAFAC), Luke Kimberley, Sam Yates, William Capstick (Ribble Valley).
U13 Girls Medals went to Lauren Westwell, 3rd 6Lap (1:24.0s), Lucy Chadwick, 2nd Shot (9.41m), Hannah Storey 1st in 4Lap (51.1s).
What a win for Hannah, after coming 2nd in her heat in the 4 Lap, she then had to do it all again in the final with a very convincing win for Gold, and if that was not enough, she partnered Gabriella Charnley in the 8Lap Paarlauf (4 laps each) to claim another Gold, and after a 12 hard laps, it was thoroughly deserved.
U13 Boys Medals went to Joe O’Donnell 2nd 6Lap (1:20.4s) breaking the county record and 2nd Speed Bounce (78), Jacob Weir 1st 4Lap (49.1s) and 3rd High Jump (1.35m) equaling the county record, Chris Pate 1st Standing Triple Jump (6.98m), David James also claiming 2nd (6.52m) in the same event. Sam Mercer 3rd 6Lap (1:20.6s), Mathew Ault 3rd 4Lap (50.2s), Joe and Jacob also joined forces in the 8Lap Paarlauf to win Gold.
U15 Girls Medals went to Hannah Lupton 1st Shot (8.91m), 2nd Standing Long Jump (2.27m), Sophie Ealand 2nd 4Lap (48.8s), 3rd Speed Bounce (81) 3rd Vertical Jump (50), Amy Lupton 2nd Shot (8.61m). Hannah also won the Individual Athlete of the day with a points total of 141, which would have given her a passage to the finals all by herself, if the team had not won. Sophie pushed her close coming 3rd with 138 points.
U15 boys medals went to Luke Kimberley 2nd 4Lap (46.0s), Sam Yates 3rd 4Lap (46.5s), 3rd Standing Triple Jump (7.72m), William Capstick 2nd Standing Long Jump (2.49m), James Davies 1st 4Lap (45.8s), 1st Standing Triple Jump (8.28m), 3rd Shot (10.09m). James and Anthony combined speed and power in the 8Lap Paarlauf to easily overcome the opposition to take Gold. But the highlight of the day was the 4 x 2Lap Relay of Sam, Jack, William and Luke who matched the opposition step by step, but winning Gold by just a whisker.
All the Under 15 Girls except Rachel Pearson are away on a warm weather training trip abroad on the day of the final, so gave their place to runners up Cheshire, who were more than happy to accept. Rachel will go through as an individual and fly the flag for Lancashire together with the Under 15 Boys.
A Gold Medal and a big thanks should go to U15 girl Alix Morley who probably would have won Gold on the day in Speed Bounce but unselfishly gave this event up to do another event for the benefit of the team.
