The results for the 2016 Fell Championship are here.
Lancashire Fell Championships 2017 and Inter-Counties Fell Championship selection
This year the Lancashire fell championships will be returning to the Pendle Fell
Race on 1st April 2017. The reason for this is to keep the field as competitive
as possible so as to test runners against other runners that they may come up against
in the Inter Counties. There will be medals for the first 3 Male/Female in all age
groups as seen below-
Under 23 Inter Counties Age Group
Senior Open Inter Counties Age Group
Under 17s Inter Counties Age Group
Under 19s Inter Counties Age Group
The Junior Inter Counties Team will be made up from the first 3 in each Age Group
with the next 2 in each Age Group invited to be a reserve. The Inter Counties for
the Juniors will be at Cowpe in Rossendale on Saturday 10th June. Vests will be
provided. Where there may not be enough runners for a team in a given age group
the Lancashire AA Fell Secretary will contact clubs for suitable candidates to compete
for the county.
The Senior Teams will be made up of 5 athletes, one of which will be the first U23
runner at the Lancs Champs. The first two senior placed runners will be automatically
picked for the Inter Counties Team. The next 3 athletes at the Lancs Champs will
be invited to be first reserves. The final two places will be at the Fell Secretary’s
discretion, to allow for any athletes that may have not been able to run on the day
to be considered for selection. However any athlete that wishes to be considered
must inform the Fell Secretary before the day of the Championships of the circumstances
for not being present at the Lancs Champs. The athletes will be provided with vests
if they have not already got one from previous years. The Inter Counties will take
place at Broughton in Scotland on Saturday 13th May.
All teams will be posted on the Lancashire website no later than Saturday 8th April.
